March 12, 2009 — San Mateo County, California San Mateo County, California has agreed to pay $6.8 Million to settle a qui tam claim filed against it by a County employee, Ronald M. Davis. The allegations of the case were that the County falsely inflated a bed count (ie the number of beds) contained in the San Mateo Medical Center to receive higher payments from Medicare.
